I was born in Mayorthorpe, AB but grew up in Edmonton and St. Albert, Alberta. I started my professional career when I was 19 and continued to play full-time until the age of 33. From there I concentrated on writing music and on my academics and worked part-time in the clubs and bars. I am very much influenced by roots and folk music and tend to draw my inspiration from Country and Blues and Folk. Most of my early commercial gig experiences were rural and remote locations far from my hometown of Edmonton. I traveled to the North West Territories many times, as far East as Thompson, Manitoba as far West as Campbell River on Vancouver Island and as far South as Montana. I returned to school at the age of 28 to attend Grant MacEwan’s music program. However. After graduating with a performance degree in the Jazz Program, I finished a BA in Sociology with a minor in music from the University of Alberta. Today we own a house in Edmonton where I continue to write and record.
